Frequently Asked Questions

Your Pets and Their Safety

  • What kind of pets do you accept?

We focus on dogs and cats for local ground transportation. For international travel — please contact our office to learn more.

  • What if there is a problem with my pet in transit?

Our drivers are trained to recognize signs of distress in animals, and we have strict policies to follow if something doesn’t go according to plan. Our dispatch team works with drivers 24/7, and we have veterinarians on call to help with any medical situation that might occur.

  • Does my pet have to ride in a carrier?

Drivers have carriers for all dogs and cats. If your cat prefers their soft-sided carriers, that is fine as well.

All pets will always ride in approved travel kennels. Your pet's safety is our top concern. Riding outside of a travel kennel is not safe for your pet.

  • Does my pet need any type of documentation?

Not for local trips. For longer distances that cross state lines, the USDA requires you to provide a current rabies certificate for your pet. If your pet is going to the airport to catch a flight or coming into the USA, they will need other documents, which are specific to the origin and destination. In this case, proper paperwork is critical, so we will discuss this with you individually.

My Pet Cab's Locations and Services

  • What are your hours of operation?

Monday – Friday, 8 am to 8 pm local time.

  • How does My Pet Cab transport pets internationally?

We partner with the worlds leading animal transport companies to coordinate ground and air legs of each pets itinerary. For your pet, the trip will be safe, comfortable, and seamless.

  • Who are your drivers?

We do a thorough local, state, and federal background check on all our drivers. We want to be sure they are the right person to represent My Pet Cab, and that they have a clean driving record. Then they go through intensive training, working with world-class pet handlers, learning about best practices in pet handling and safe transport.

  • Can I receive updates during my pet's journey?

Of course! We know how pet parents suffer from separation anxiety. You'll get text messages and can track your driver.

  • What if I have multiple pets?

Each vehicle will have a certain capacity. For local one-way and round trips, your pets have the vehicle to themselves. If you have more than two pets, our dispatch will contact you to see if we can accommodate them.

  • What if I live in a high-rise?

Top floor or ground floor, our driver will be happy to carry or lead your kitty or pup to the vehicle and back up to your apartment provided that legal parking is easily and readily accessible.

  • How far in advance do I have to book my pet’s trip?

We ask that you give us at lest 24 hours’ notice for local trips. We require 5-7 business days, at minimum, to book & confirm import services.

  • What if I need to accompany my pet?

Unfortunately, we can’t take humans due to city regulations on transporting people.

  • Can’t I use a regular taxi?

Not all drivers allow pets – or all types of pets - in their cabs. And they aren't set up to transport furry companions safely. Plus, municipal regulations differ from one city to the next. My Pet Cab is dedicated to providing "pets-first" service that is safe, comfortable, and reliable. We are the professionals when it comes to pets on the go.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

You can cancel anytime before pick-up by contacting our dispatcher to get a full refund — as long as the driver is not en route. If they are already on the way, there is no refund.
